About the author, Craig Anderson

My curiosity ranges across the social and physical sciences, technology, engineering, agriculture, and the natural world. Constant reading, research, and other investigation has allowed me to learn enough to understand the broad outlines of multiple fields, and hopefully to know which kinds of questions are the most important in each. I use this knowledge to integrate information from many domains into a more unified understanding of sustainability problems as well as to work towards their solutions.

For my formal education, I received a bachelors degree in biology and chemistry focusing on natural resources management, followed by a stint as a researcher examining gene expression in one of Biology’s favorite model organisms, the zebrafish. I later went on to earn masters and doctoral degrees in educational psychology. During and after my graduate studies I examined topics in social, evolutionary, and cognitive  psychology.  In some work, we even examined what motivates environmentally friendly behaviors. I also worked as a research manager at the University of Ottawa, supporting research of all sorts at the School of Psychology and dabbling in research across the discipline.

In sustainability work, I first moved from armchair environmentalist to something more through the building of our off-grid home and managing the farm property that it sits on. Writing, education, and consulting on sustainability  issues followed. I now do extensive sustainability related work.
